Bring Back the Magic!

"It is an important piece of history and a special piece of family history for me since my father built the State Theatre back in 1926."
- Henry Carlson (Henry Carlson Construction Co.)

The new State Theatre will combine an unbelievable movie experience with affordable concessions, first-run movies, classic films, community arts and educational events.

In short, it will provide downtown Sioux Falls with a daily affordable venue to draw new patrons, dramatically improve the quality of life for downtown's residents while at the same time provide an attractive and exciting destination for tourists and the many people that visit the downtown area every year.

We need cash donations from large to small.  Everything helps!  No contribution too small or too large.  A large check takes a tremendous bit out of that $500,000 figure but it is also amazing how quickly smaller checks add up.  Anyone who raises or donates $1000 or more will be prominently and permanently acknowledged in the
State Theatre lobby.

Contribute and Change the Future of Downtown

The State is nearing the end of its $200,000 matching grant program through the “Save America’s Treasures Program”. If you make an on-line contribution today it will be matched 1 for 1 by this extremely prestigious program. Please help out our project financially! We need to make this happen!

Meet the Press

2010 has been the year of the news story for the State Theatre. After a successful press conference in February that saw all three TV stations, the Argus Leader and Public Radio, the good press has continued for the State Theatre. Our June 30th Fundraising/Public Relations event was another great chance to tell our story. We received solid coverage from the Argus, the Sioux Falls Business Journal and a few weeks later, an exclusive piece on “Eye on KELO-land”.

Lobby Construction Set for Fall

Southern Anchor of “Phillips to the Falls”

In July’s “Eye on KELO-land” piece, SFSTC Treasurer Bruce Eide delivered a great interview in which he described a rebuilt State Theatre as “the southern anchor of the Phillips to the Falls project.” That, in a sentence, is the best positioning statement to use when describing the State. Thousands of new people will be driven to the downtown/east bank area every week if this project is completed. As much as this project is about history, it is even more about the future of our great city.
