We are right on schedule with Phase 4 the Development Plan. The following is a break down of the various phases and what is needed in order to meet those goals.
2002 - 2004: PHASE 1 (Secure the Building)
Sioux Falls Film Society raised money to purchase the building, put on a new roof and fund a feasibility study. ($375,000)
2005 - 2006: PHASE 2 (Marquee Relighting)
Sioux Falls State Theatre Company (SFSTC) raised funds from the Sioux Falls Community to restore and relight
the marquee, which is currently being used to help promote downtown activities and add to the evening ambiance. ($50,000)
2006 - 2007: PHASE 3 (Facade Restoration)
Through the Development Fund, individual and corporate contributions and a Facade Easement grant the facade has been restored. The historic State Theatre is once again contributing to the overall beauty of downtown Sioux Falls. ($225,000)
Developed architectural drawings, construction plan, marketing plan, and business plan. ($50,000)
2008 - 2009: PHASE 4 (Lobby)
SFSTC will restore the front lobby of the State Theatre and open it to the public in 2009 with a small retail business and promotional center. Funds will be raised from individual contributions, in-kind contributors, named giving opportunities, public and private grants. ($500,000).
2009 - 2011: PHASE 5 (Auditorium)
SFSTC will restore teh State Theatre with fully digital, state of the art movie technology and open 500 seats to the public as a film theatre. Offering creative programming for digital, classic, art, and silent film. Funds will be raised through named giving of various parts of the theatre, individual contributions, a federal appropriation, and public and private grants. ($2,800,000)
2011 - 2012: PHASE 6 (Balcony and Stage)
SFSTC will restore the stage area, 400 seats in the upper balcony, the Wurlitzer pipe organ and upper offices to be open to the public. The theatre will offer additional venues to include performance, a museum, conferences, educational programming and low or no-cost community access. Funds will be raised through named giving of various parts of the theatre, individual contributions, in-kind contributions, application to the 2011 Chamber of Commerce Community Appeals Campaign, and public and private grants. ($2,400,000)
